Here is a list of five basic steps to guide you through the process of obtaining your Rhode Island real estate license:

Our state required 45-hour course to obtain your real estate agent license offers the most comprehensive instruction to help you prepare for your real estate exam and becoming a a real estate agent.  Everything you need to know about the RI real estate exam, including how to schedule and master the exam, is provided within our sales pre-license class. 

Enroll in the Real Estate Classes

The Rhode Island examination is taken in two parts, first the national portion which covers modern real estate principles and practices and second the Rhode Island real estate law portion which covers RI licensing laws. The passing score is 70 for both exams, the fee for each exam is $50.00.  If you fail only one section of the exam, you will have to retake the portion that was not passed within one (1) year. Candidate Handbook:

The Real Estate Institute of Rhode Island provides the state required Lead Paint Hazards course through our online education provider. This is an online self paced 3 hour class.

Lead Paint Class:

Real Estate Career Counseling  

The Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation issues all RI real estate licenses. An application signed by you the applicant and the broker you choose to join is required and must meet the following requirements.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old;
• Proof of Completion of 45 hours of Sales Pre-license training & 3 hours of Agency Law;
• Completion of 3-hour Lead Paint Hazards Awareness course;
• A passing grade on the state licensing exam (70%)
• A criminal history record 
• Proof of E&O Insurance (normally provided by the broker) 
• Application fee
