LEAD CLASS Pre License Students
This course is designed to fulfill the mandatory lead paint class for pre licensing students in Rhode Island. The objective of this seminar is to provide candidates for licensure with an overview of current law and procedures pertaining to lead paint mitigation and its effects on real estate transactions in the state of Rhode Island.
This class is a requirement by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulations Real Estate Division

License Renewal
The State of Rhode Island Commercial Licensing Division- Real Estate Division

License Renewal Requirements
Rhode Island real estate licensees are required to complete the following requirements unless exempt.
- 24 clock hours of State approved continuing education classes
- At least 9 of the 24 hours must be designated as ‘core’.
- 3 of the 9 ‘core’ hours must include an approved Fair Housing class.
- View all approved classes through the Real Estate Institute of Rhode Island- School Classes
Renewal Periods
License renewals are approved by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulations. Commercial Licensing Division Real Estate.
Renewal deadlines are as follows:
- If you were licensed PRIOR to January 1, 2020, your renewal deadline is April 30th, 2026.
- If you were licensed AFTER January 1, 2020, your renewal deadline is your anniversary dates from every 2 years from the date on your license.

Exemptions for Continuing Education
- Licenses issued before Dec. 12, 1984
- Active licensees of MA and CT who obtained their RI license via reciprocity
- Active licensees who are residents of FL and received their RI license via the Florida Mutual Recognition Agreement
- Attorneys at law granted a license pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 5-20.5-4(d)
